Walid GHARBI


Professional violin player and composer.


Born on June 19th ,1968 in Tunis ,Walid GHARBI is a professional violin player and composer.
He is graduate from "the National School of Music and Dance of Tunis" in 1991 where he also obtained a Certificate of violin player and he got his professional card of music in 1989.
He participated in three sessions of "the Weeks of Art of Tunis" and was awarded three Certificates of Appreciation and the first prize as a violin player.

Walid GHARBI also belonged to many important orchestras


Walid GHARBI also belonged to many important orchestras as follow :
- "The Orchestra of the Rachidia School" since 1991 and during three years (many concerts in Tunis and abroad).
- The Symphonic Orchestra of Tunis conducted by Maestro Ahmed Achour , since 1990.
- The National Group of Music as a first player ,since 1990.
- The Mediterranean Orchestra conducted by the maestro Kamel FERJANI ,since 1995.
- The Orchestra of Tahar and Ziad Gharsa ,since 1990.

A turning point in the career of Walid Gharbi , is the co-founding and production of the group " RAKSH " with Brahim BAHLOUL in the year 2000



Besides ,Walid GHARBI produced and created the musical show " Hadith al-Watar " in 1998 and participated with it in the Festival of the Medina of Tunis during the evenings of Ramadan.
He also produced the show " Alakwas Athalatha " (The three Bows) in 1998 and participated with it in the " Days of the Young Musical Groups ".

On November 7th ,2000 Walid GHARBI animated and conduced the "Orchestra of Carthage" in the concert that took place in Hanover , Germany.

A turning point in the career of Walid Gharbi , is the co-founding and production of the group " RAKSH " with Brahim BAHLOUL in the year 2000 . The first performance of this show was held in the Festival of the Medina during the month of Ramadan. Then , the group participated in many festivals and events in Tunis and Europe.

Presently, Walid GHARBI is artistic director and violin player in the National Troupe of Popular Arts that belongs to the Ministry of Culture and he was awarded many prizes such as :

- Two Certificates of Appreciation during the "Festival of Sallala in Sultanat Oman" in 1996 and 2000.
- An artistic distinction in the Tunisian Touristic Week in Tripoli in 1999.
- A distinction and a Certificate of Appreciation in the Festival of Ramallah in Palestine in 1998.

In 2001 Walid GHARBI added new features to the traditional old musical instrument called "Rabab" which ensured the revival of this instrument.
